2010-2011
To Whom It May Concern:
I write to you on behalf of the YES I CAN “Unity through Music and Education” 501(c)3 organization, specifically in request of your assistance to produce our 8th Annual Summer Meltdown Autism Awareness and Social Inclusion Concert. The YIC program combines students with special needs, possessing a wide spectrum of disabilities, with general education mentors. The students spend the majority of the year working towards the common goal of throwing the Summer Meltdown concert. The majority of the students with special needs have a form of Autism known as Asperger’s Syndrome. Although often gifted academically, their major area of deficit is their ability to socialize and communicate with peers. This is why it is essential to provide these students with the opportunity to challenge them to work together and practice the techniques they’ve been taught throughout the program. The costs of producing the concert are covered through class fundraisers, donations, and sponsorships.
In the past, donations and sponsorships included: Fender, VH1, Monster Energy Drink, REMO Drums, SRH clothing, Volcom, Andy Gump, Vans Warped Tour, AV Party Rentals, The Museum of Tolerance, NLA, Unite the United, Chronic Tacos and many other businesses. Their assistance helps provide support for maintaining the same level of professionalism found in all major professional concert productions. For example, donations help purchase back stage passes, security, stage, sound, lights, and food. These artists performed in the 2,000 seat outdoor amphitheatre at
We ask that you please consider making a contribution to this very worthy cause; the form of which is entirely up to you. We are still booking supporting talent for this year’s concert. If you would like to perform or sponsor us, you will be given a tax identification number for tax-deduction purposes as well as listings as a valued sponsor on all fliers, posters, and all professionally printed materials. If you have an interest in helping us in any way, please contact the representative who gave you this letter, or the YIC Summer Meltdown program advisor at Golden Valley High School (661) 298-8140 ext. 1414, email blieber@hartdistrict.org,
